Mermaids cannot walk after putting their tail on! In order to get into the pool, the mermaid will need up to 10 minutes of time to wiggle into her tail before entering water or sitting down. Most events distract the guests temporarily away from the setup location, use our rolling cart, or the mermaid may be carried by 2+ able bodied people.

While the cost covers a myriad of details like time and tasks that must be completed by the mermaid for your event. This includes matters like travel costs, and time to get ready for the event. Mermaids also handle heavy equipment, use special cosmetic and hair products meant for water, and have to upkeep physical fitness to be able to swim in costume. Our costumes almost always require repair after each event as well, from washing and rinsing, to sewing, gluing, and painting to maintain the item.

Having multiple fins is necessary as well to be able to cater to our curious clients; a quality fabric tail can start at $500 and go up into the several thousand! These tails are considered to be wearable art and require a substantial amount of time to care for after use; most mermaids consider a good portion of the appearance fee to cover the wear and tear of the tail.

Certifications and other training is also a large piece of the puzzle, so when you book with us, you can trust you are getting great service by a real professional!

Fabric tails are typically supported by a hybrid/vinyl monofin and have seams from the sewing - they look great in photos but aren’t as realistic up close. This option is great for younger children as older kids might notice seams or zippers.

Hybrid tails have a silicone monofin and are often custom made such that the fabrics are thicker, textured, and/or 3D printed for realism. These are great for photos and swimming, but they get wear and tear easily due to the fabric.

Silicone tails are considered to be luxury mermaid tails because of their realism and behavior in water. They are expensive, heavy, and require specialized knowledge to both repair and use. Silicone tails weigh 30+ pounds and often require lubricant to get into. For the height of realism, or perhaps a very skeptical mermaid believer, silicone mermaids are the way to go!
